This section was created by Andy
Hartz in his site International Waters. You may know by now,
that his work and personal life became incompatible with the work needed to keep those
fine pages. The information you could find there was the most valuable one could find
about this hobby.
All of those that try to keep interesting and accurate WEB pages know how huge is
the work involved.
This is an attempt to keep such fine work from disappearing.

I'm currently using all of the ABC gearbox mods. Stock gearbox
didn't hold up long under the 17t torque. I tighten the trim tabs up past the recommended
5mm in calm water conditions. 3 of the 6 bearings in the outdrive are exposed to water.
Keep them lubricated after every run. |

Construction tip |
NEVER strip a hex nut on the universal, what a job. |
|
Comments |
Built over 12 years ago when "fast electric" was highly
experimental, at least in this country. Beautiful motor with built-in bearing and brush
cap cooling . . . a real piece of work. Not much by today's standards, but can hit 25 MPH
on a good day ! ! ! Let me know if anybody else has anything similar.

I sharpened the hardware until it could easily cut a piece
of paper and polished it to a blinding finish, and I sharpened, balanced, and polished the
prop. |

I made a few mods w/ water-cooling and a homemade motor mount to
do so. I also modified the steering and the antenna. I used a lot of velcro to change the
battery placement for water conditions. The Jet Arrow is a fun sport boat whi ch I hope to
continue improving in order to acquire its max speed. |

Thanx to Jay Turner for tips on how to set up my first RC boat.
With the above setup, the boat is approximately 75% faster than stock. It WILL jump out of
the water upon acceleration and it WILL swap ends with the above setup if you are not
careful. Allow the motor/ESC to cool between runs, particularly if the water is rough,
particularly if you are turning tight circles, or else face possible end-bell meltdown.
:-0 Expect run times to be around 4-5 minutes. I have an Octura X435 which I plan to install
and test next. |

True 50+mph down straights, turns like on rails, can handle rough
water. Hughey style hull with open motor and battery compartment, therefore mostly air
cooled. No water cooling. Last heat race of 97 season posted 52.2 for 4 laps in traffic
(ie lapped field), fastest lap 11.93 seconds on pins. Quite the rush to drive!
